According to allopath’s, abnormality in the immune system that damages hair follicles. This particular abnormality leads to autoimmunity, a misguided immune system that tends to attack its own body. As a result, the immune system attacks particular tissues of the body. In alopecia areata, for unknown reasons, the body’s own immune system attacks the hair follicles and disrupts normal hair formation. Biopsies of affected skin show immune lymphocytes penetrating into the hair bulb of the hair follicles.

In my clinical trials/research I (Dr Qaisar Ahmed) noticed that causes of hair fall could be different for example:

Caused by malnutrition (Vit-K, Vit-A, Protein, Biotin, zinc, iron-low hemoglobin etc.).

Autoimmune conditions and diseases such as:

• • Thyroid disease
  • Vitiligo
  • Lupus
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Stress and/or Depression
  • Hair-pulling disorder, or Trichotillomania
  • Nutrient Deficiencies

The diagnosis or treatment of these diseases is unlikely to affect the course of alopecia areata.

The allopathic course of typical alopecia areata is not predictable with a high likelihood of spontaneous remission. The longer the period of time of hair loss and the larger the area involved, the less likely the hair will regrow spontaneously. Therefore, in allopathy there are a variety of treatments, but none of these can confidently be predicted to impact the course of this disease:

• Local steroid injections intracutaneously may be very helpful in restarting the hair growth cycle in treated areas.
• Steroid creams, lotions, and shampoos have been used for many years but are of limited benefit at best.
• Although oral systemic steroids are known to induce hair growth in affected patients, their long-term use is contraindicated because of the likelihood of undesirable and irreversible side effects.
• The topical sensitizers, diphencyprone or squaric acid dibutylester, have been used in those suffering from recalcitrant alopecia areata or those with more than 50% hair loss. The goal of treatment is to create an allergic contact dermatitis of the scalp. This alteration in the immune response occasionally is accompanied by hair regrowth. The efficacy of topical sensitizers has been demonstrated in both young children and adults, but it probably works less than half the time. Recent success using oral janus kinase inhibitors, including tofacitinib, ruxolitinib, and baricitinib, have been shown to be efficacious in severe, extensive alopecia areata in adults, but long-term therapy has potential irreversible side effects. The durability of response to these medications is variable, and most patients experience recurrence of hair loss after discontinuation. Perhaps topical therapy with these types of drugs may be available in the near future.
• There is no known effective allopathic method of prevention, although the elimination of emotional stress is felt to be helpful. No allopathic drugs or allopathic hair care products have been associated with the onset of alopecia areata.
• Although not precisely a treatment, the cosmetic camouflage of alopecia areata is certainly an important consideration in patient management. The damaging emotional effect of significant hair loss for both women and men can be considerable.

Homeopathic Treatment for alopecia areata

Thuja Occidentalis

The main action of Thuja is on the skin and Genito-urinary organs. White, scaly dandruff; hair dry and falling out. Greasy skin, carbuncles; ulcers, especially in ano-genital region. Freckles and blotches. Perspiration sweetish, and strong, brown spots (Vit-A deficiency). Zona; herpetic eruptions.

Sepia Officianalis

Acts specially on the portal system, with venous congestion. Stasis and thereby ptosis of viscera and weariness and misery. Weakness, yellow complexion. Hair loss from hormonal imbalance. Falling of hair during menopause, pregnancy, after childbirth and nursing of a child. Losing of hair after chronic headache. Hair falls out. Open fontanelles. Roots of hair sensitive. Pimples on forehead near hair. Irritable and indifferent women. Hot flushes followed by perspiration. Bearing down sensation in the uterus. Brown spots on abdomen (Vit-A deficiency). Herpes circinate in isolated spots. Itching; not relieved by scratching.

Silicea Tera

Imperfect assimilation and consequent defective nutrition. It goes further and produces neurasthenic states in consequence, and increased susceptibility to nervous stimuli and exaggerated reflexes. Premature baldness, Itching of the scalp before menses. Profuse sweat of head, offensive, and extends to neck. Felons, abscesses, boils, old fistulous ulcers. Delicate, pale, waxy.

Thallium Metallicum

Thallium seems to influence the endocrines, especially the thyroid and adrenaline. Hair falls after acute exhausting diseases. Hair falls off with great rapidity. Hair fall from thyroid hormone issues. Alopecia following acute, exhausting diseases. Night sweats. Polyneuritis. Dermal trophic lesions.

Natrum Muriaticum

Patients of  anemia and leukocytosis. Hyperthyroidism. Goiter. Addison’s disease. Diabetes. Greasy, oily, especially on hairy parts. Dry eruptions, especially on margin of hairy scalp. Fever blisters. Urticaria; itch and burn. Crusty eruptions. Eczema. Affects hair follicles. Alopecia. Hives, itching after exertion. Greasy skin.

Phosphorus

Inflammation and degeneration of mucous membranes irritated and inflamed serous membranes.

Floric Acidium

Fluoric acid acts on the epidermis just like Silica and Thallium Metallicum. Alopecia. Caries of skin. Itching and/or burning pains on small spots of the skin.

Phosphoricum Acidum

Hair loss from grief and mental shock. Hair thins out, turns grey early. Hair falls after fever. Indifferent persons, aversion to talking. Burning pains on small spots of the skin. Pimples, acne, blood-boils. Ulcers, with very offensive pus. Burning red rash.

Selenium Metallicum

Hair fall. Dry, scaly eruption in palms, with itching. Hair falls out from brows, beard, and genitals. Seborrhea oleosa; comedowns with an oily surface of the skin; alopecia. Acne.

Lycopodium

Eczema; moist oozing behind ears. Deep furrows on forehead. Premature baldness and gray hair. Severe hair fall/loos.  Abscesses beneath skin. Acne. Chronic eczema associated with urinary, gastric and hepatic disorders, bleeds easily. Skin becomes thick and indurated. Brown spots on skin (Vit-A deficiency).

Arnica Montana

Arnica increases blood circulation in the scalp, stimulate hair follicles. Prevent hair loss in both man and woman.

Borax

Skin difficult to heal; dingy, unhealthy-looking skin; every injury tends to ulceration. Erysipelatous inflammations, with swelling. Rough and horny hairs cannot be combed smooth. Hair tangled at the tip and stick together, cannot be separated. Whitish pimples, with red areola. Herpetic eruptions. Purulent and phagedenic vesicles.

Thyrodinum

Anemia, emaciation, muscular weakness, sweating, headache, nervous tremor of face and limbs, tingling sensations, paralysis. Hair loss and greying of hair from thyroid hormone imbalance. Psoriasis associated with adiposity. Skin dry, impoverished. Eczema. Uterine fibroids.

Wiesbaden

Amenorrhea. Angina pectoris. Body, odor of, offensive. Constipation. Corns. Diarrheas’. Earwax, excessive. Epistaxis. Glaucoma. Gout. Hemorrhage. Hemorrhoids. Hair, rapid growth of; falling of; grows darker. Hernia, inguinal; femoral. Indigestion. Miscarriage, prevents. Rheumatism. Sterility. Vertigo; caduca. Whitlow. Cantharis

Hair falls out when combing, especially during confinement and lactation. Severe dandruff with scales on the scalp. Dermatitis venenata with bled formation. Secondary eczema. Eruption with mealy scales. Vesicular eruptions, with burning and itching. Sunburn. Burns, scalds, with rawness and smarting.

Calceria Carbonica

Hair loss from thyroid hormone imbalance. Falling of hair due to hypothyroidism. Excessive perspiration on the scalp, wets the pillow. Itching of the scalp. Cold spots on head. Chilly persons. Catches cold easily. Craving for eggs and indigestible things like dirt, chalk, pencils. Fatty, and obese persons, easily overworked and exhausted. 

Calceria Phosphoricum

Ferrum Phosphoricum
